Successful 10 years for MTI

Successful 10 years for MTI

Machinery Trade International (MTI) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2013 as it reflects back on one of the most challenging periods in modern trading history.
Many major events have taken place over the course of the past decade: the onset of a global financial crisis, the election of the first black president of the United States, catastrophic tsunamis and earthquakes, and the publication of the final Harry Potter book.
The point is that times change, an observation that also applies to the business trading environment.
Manufacturing, for example, is today a truly global activity. The traditional barriers to cross-border trade have evaporated as the economics of supply and demand now dictate there is competitive gain beyond the restrictions of localised or national transactions.
Facilitating technologies such as new and pre-owned machine tools are now in demand the world over. However, travel back in time 10 years and there was no easy way to facilitate the buying and selling of machine tools across borders and across languages.
The market was clearly lacking a publication with both an extensive UK and international circulation.
Also missing was a publication that didn't rely on an understanding of the English language to generate enquiries and orders.
Conceived in the summer of 2003 by an experienced team of publishing industry professionals, MTI was established with the aim of providing a genuine alternative to 'traditional' magazines promoting new and pre-owned machine tool sales.
In September 2003, the first issue of MTI magazine landed on the desks of machine tool buyers at manufacturing companies around the world. The publication's use of full colour machine photo panels revolutionised machine tool transactions, particularly in combination with wide reaching UK distribution and the first real weekly international circulation, which was abc-certified within a month of launch.
The growing success of the magazine was further accelerated in May 2004 with the launch of MTI's complementary website www.mti-online.com, a portal that today carries an impressive 17,000 machines... [Read More]
