Disabled climber gets new foot

Lower-leg amputee, CJ Howard, a California-based mountaineering enthusiast, has benefited from the latest EOS additive manufacturing technology, also known as 3D printing.
Mr Howard's new 'climbing' foot was made from titanium alloy powder using an EOS direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) machine at Ohio-based Morris Technologies.
Manufacturing started by uploading the digital CAD data of the prosthesis to Morris Technologies, where the model was sliced horizontally and converted to a series of 2D files.
